Get your own bag

Long time ago, Sunday mornings used to be a different. No I am not getting nostalgic about Rangoli and Chandrakanta. I grew up in a family that loves non-veg and I am no different. Sunday morning had a special task on my calendar. It was mutton day and it was my responsibility to wake up early and get it from 'Kallu Mia". This friendly gentleman still gives me a toothless grin as he watches his son and grandson serve my needs if I happen to turn up on a sunday morning.

In Bhubaneswar, such shops still attracts scores of patrons and the crowd on sunday mornings is still worth taking a look. You have to reach early to get the best service. And people over there are very particular about what they take. I enjoy seeing people haggling over which pieces they take depending on the menu for the day. And it is indeed an art worth appreciating when you see a veteran like 'Kallu Mia' spinning out a web of words as he makes sure non of his customer returns less satisfied. He would assure you that you had the best stuff for whatever you are thinking of making out of it, biryani, roganjosh, keema masala, he has a few tips for every thing.

Well enough nostalgia... What was notable today was the fact that in this area of Pune, the shopkeepers are taking some environmental guidelines seriously. The have stopped giving plastic bags. You have to go with your own bag. I am impressed. And I support this whole heatedly.. Go Green
