feel like connecting

Often we find ourselves in particular moods, and we do one of these two things... ceteris paribus

1- we let ourselves get deeper into it
2- we figure out, that enough is enough and make efforts to get out of it.

Now when the former is true, we probably at times feel like connecting to people who are also in the same mood. And if you are a blogger, what better way than check out other blogs.. they are sincere, spontaneous and lets you connect.

But how do you find someone who is also in the same mood as you are?

I reached this site through a lecture given by the founder of the site.. without going into those details, let me give you an overview...
http://www.wefeelfine.org/

Click on open wefeelfine and a new window opens.
Wait for the applet to load (that means you should have jre on your machine... dont worry probably it already is..)
There would be coloured dots on the screen. theese are not just pixels, each represent some feeling of some individual on the net. the colour indicates the intensity or charachter of the feeling
Place your cursor on one and you will find what it is. click on it, it takes you to the line.
Now if you wish click on it and you reach the page where it was expressed.

Wonderfully conceptualized... the whole web is scanned for lines with the word feel in it. They are indexed, profiled and carefully stored in a database to be presented to you in
this amazing fashion.

Now check out the bar at the top of the window, it lets you filter out the right feeling for you. Choose what you want to filter (feeling, gender, age, weather, location or date).

There is more.. What you saw was the default view... and they have named it madness..
Check out the bottom left corner.. You will find
Murmurs ( where excerpts keep dropping down.. click on the one that interests you)
Montage (the screen lights up with pictures people have been putting up on the net.. of course with the link to the sentence with the word feel )

The rest three are macro analysis of the feelings on the web
Mobs (will show you the categorisation of feelings... a kind of legend key..)
Metrics (shows the current levels of the most common feelings against their normal levels)
Mounds (show the most common of all feelings)

One sad thing though.... unless you are on a broadband, some of these might take a long time to load up.. and it can be frustrating.

Nevertheless, I felt really enabled by the site. I could find someone who was feeling the way i was and connect to them.
