Keeping things in order

I met a very old friend a few weeks ago..

As we were ready to move out..he was not able to find his car keys. And for the next 15-20 mins we were scanning the entire house for them. Knowing him well I commented that U have'nt changed. U still come into the room and throw things off.

what he explained to me was really amusing. I could not help admitting that the old dog had finally learnt a new trick. He said that he had realized that assigning places to things and keeping them in place is something that can never be done by him....so what he had done is...he had identified one single drawer into which he can throw off all the contents of his pocket. Important papers, CDs, Keys, letters, credit cards, bills, etc etc...

I could not help smiling when he explained me how much of a difference it had made to his life. Quite innocently he pointed out that, now he has to search just one place instead of searching the entire house when he needed something.

but the mess in the drawer told me that it is not an easy thing to find something even if it was just one drawer.....and the missing car keys reminded me that however he may try he would always be the carless go getter that charachterized him. Some people jsut carry it off. People like me who want sanity everywhere..may be miss out on something..may be i miss out on being reckless...on the willingness to take risks and plunge into uncertainity.
