Happens only in India

IT happens only in India...

The rains have finally decided to relieve bangalore of the heat this year. I swear last few days had become really unbearable. But as soon as the rains have started, they sparked a feeling of deja vu. here is how..

The rains start hitting the ground and the electricity goes off. Then you have nothing left to do. And if you are a bachelor like me, you wont even have candles at hand. So you utter a few curses and actually find yourself concentrating on the rains, the sound of wind and the smell of wet earth.

Why i called it a deja vu.. Well reminds me of my small village in the interiors of Orissa. As soon as the clouds start gathering, the people in the electricity supply department apparently get ready to pull down the mains. As soon as the rain starts you are left in the darkness and find yourself noting for the first time the sounds of nature around you. The fascade of manmade distractions suddenly drops and rains brings you closer to the things around you.

Well today I am staying in Koramangla, one of the posh localities in Bangalore. But it is just the same. The moment the rains start, the current goes off. Well may be it is this continuity of eccentricities that makes you realize you are in India.

Not that i am complaining. Unless there is some immediate work on hand or I am watching my favourite show, I really appreciate the time i spend doing nothing except watching the rains. No noise of the telivisions, no noise of ac and somehow i feel the world around has calmed down. No glaring lights...i can pull out my bean bag to the balcony and enjoy the spray of water with the cool winds.
