Well what i started writting was a business proposition that has been running in my mind for days now.
The idea is really simple...better utilization of space in the vehicle and provide some value added service.
The need drivers:
1- The notorious traffic jams of Bangalore…U can travel long without getting caught in one. And u would be thankful if u find something to do during that time.
2- Simple understanding of consumer behavior…Impulse Purchase…Get things that come under this category within reach of people.
Investment:
1- A panel for display of these items. Considering the nature of these items…it should not be a problem to replenish them. So the stock to be displayed can be the minimum.
2- Pricing of course will be at a premium. The convenience provided has to come at a price. But the difference has to be such that it not enough to kill the impulse of the buyer.
Stuff on display:
1- chocolates
2- Cigarettes
3- Gutkas
4- Newspapers (Reusable)
5- Magazines (Reusable)
6- Mobile charging
7- Eatables
As a customer I would be ready to pay Rs 2-5 more if they let me pay using my Debit/Credit card. That's too much to ask I suppose.
May be it is too much to expected from the autodriver. But come to think of it, if an agency sponsors it...that is fits these panels and may be swipping machines for me :), gives the working capital for the stuff on display and the autowalla operates and shares the profits.
Add in a bit of positioning of these auto's as premium class (with may be security guarantee for ladies, availabilty on call booking, a bit more fair in pricing at odd hours)...I guess it is going to be great business.
In short like all other un-organized sectors...theese people will also have to make way to more organized operations. Dont know if anyone is thinking on these lines.
Damn if i had lots of time or if I were a student still I would have done my project doing a Business Plan for it. I guess i could sell it to some venture capitalist for good money....
a good idea. why not give it a try right now coz time is too short.
